VERKNIPT is a leading rave promoter and event organizer from the Netherlands. Starting out with house and techno events, they have grown into a powerhouse in mass-scale hard techno events. In 2023, they announced the largest rave in Amsterdam’s history - for 40,000 people! Around the same time, news broke about their global expansion, including Poland. The organization has already visited Warsaw's Torwar arena twice. Now, it is time for the next chapter!
Just as the Dutch giant VERKNIPT was announcing its official debut in Warsaw, a wave of discussion swept through the backstages of the Polish club industry and social media. Was Warsaw, a city with deep underground techno traditions, ready for an uncompromising, stadium-scale assault exceeding 150 beats per minute? The answer came instantly from a packed-to-the-brim Torwar. This success, however, was no accident. It was the result of a cultural revolution and a generational shift.

The history of VERKNIPT, launched in 2012 by Reza Fathi and Mer Hajbarati, is a classic example of an evolution that follows the pulse of a generation. Before the brand became synonymous with a heavy, industrial sound, its roots lay in classic house and tech-house.
Choosing Poland as one of the key destinations for VERKNIPT's international expansion was a deeply calculated move. Since the 1990s, Polish listeners have been associated with a love for heavy beats. Did the Polish market prove ready at the time to welcome such a massive production machine? Yes. What is more, many described the first Polish edition of VERKNIPT ( by EXIST) as the best-produced event in the history of Warsaw's party scene.
The brand's co-founder, Mer Hajbarati, has repeatedly emphasized that the passion and uncompromising attitude of Polish ravers resonate perfectly with the VERKNIPT philosophy.
"We always received so many messages from our international fans asking when we would organize events in their countries. From the very beginning, Verknipt events drew a large international audience - it was highly noticeable! Eventually, the idea emerged to promote our Dutch hard techno quality internationally and collaborate with partners abroad who share the same vision."

The Polish crowd - much like those in other European countries (remember the VERKNIPT float at Berlin’s Rave The Planet parade?) - began searching for faster and faster music to get lost in. Joining forces with Łódź’s iconic Freedom Parade (Parada Wolności) in the summer of 2024 served as the ultimate seal on this alliance. It demonstrated that the Dutch format could respectfully integrate into the local history of Polish electronic music while bringing a new, Western production quality to the table.
What allows VERKNIPT to dominate the market while other event series lose momentum?
The key lies in creating an immersive spectacle where sound is just one piece of the puzzle. In interviews with Polish media, Michelle Verhoef bluntly declares their leading position:
"VERKNIPT is at the top of the game called hard techno."
This confidence stems from an uncompromising approach to technology and visual production. The stage designs at the Polish editions in the COS Torwar arena proved that 21st-century raving is an engineering spectacle. Lasers cutting through space to the rhythm of 160 BPM and LED screens creating three-dimensional illusions build an experience that attendees remember for months.
The second pillar is the inclusivity of the community. Although VERKNIPT's music can be dark and aggressive, the dance floor maintains an atmosphere of absolute safety and mutual respect. It is a space free from prejudice, where everyone is welcome—regardless of material status, sexual orientation, or race.
The brand has proven that a massive, arena-sized rave does not have to lose its underground soul, as long as the organizers remain true to their audience. Two spectacular editions in Warsaw and their presence at the Freedom Parade showed that the Polish music landscape has permanently shifted its vectors. This turn toward hard techno is not a passing fad, but a generational shift, of which VERKNIPT in Poland has become the most vital architect and symbol.
In the book "How The Netherlands took the lead in Electronic Music Culture" by Mark van Bergen, we read that "according to a 2018 ING survey, the export value of Dutch DJs performing abroad reached 130 million EUROS." In 2026, these figures are likely significantly higher. This is due not only to the global expansion of giant brands like VERKNIPT, but also to the fact that electronic music culture in the Netherlands is treated as a national treasure. See you at Verknipt Poland in 2026!
